Tasting Characteristics: One look at this wine and you know it’s a true beauty: very classy, like burgundy velvet, glistening and gorgeous in the glass. Aromas are perfumey black raspberry, with hints of applewood bacon, coriander and plum tart. On the palate, the flavors are big, silky smooth raspberry and chocolate, with a hint of, cherry jam and red licorice. This is a rich and vibrant Pinot: Definitely more like a cello than a violin. The barrel tannins are evident, the acidity is perfect and the structure is all there: a very balanced wine. Don’t be afraid to cellar this Pinot, as it has some maturing ahead of it. Enjoy this fine, age worthy wine with rich foods like duck breast with orange-cherry marmalade or grilled lamb with rosemary and currant demi-glace.
