We’re welcoming the beginning of 2014 with open arms, lots of fresh popcorn for the NFL Playoffs (Go 9ers!), and Dave’s favorite wine: Principal’s Choice Pinot Noir! As the warm weather continues, pruning has begun and Mark and crew are busy with over 12 acres of vines needing a winter hair cut. In the cellar, vintage 2013 wines are finishing malolactic fermentation and everyone throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains is excited about the quality, and quantity, that Mother Nature gave us last year. Now, we just need to do a rain dance! We’re in desperate need of rain: good thing our vines have roots that go deep!
When you visit us in the tasting room this month, you’ll find our football loving staff celebrating “Popcorn for the Playoffs” with freshly popped popcorn on football weekends. Join in the fun and wear your favorite team’s colors. We’re sporting 49er scarlet and gold!

January 18th is Winter Passport Day. Visit us and participating Santa Cruz Mountains wineries for a vineyard grape to glass look at our stellar wines. Burrell School will feature delicious Love Bites, those frisky fruit cakes that have more than a little “sauce” in them! Yummy. Passports are $45 each and are good for 2 years. Drum roll, please—Burrell School Vineyards is celebrating our 20th anniversary in the wine business this year. We received our federal bond on October 6th, 1994. And, after 20 years of growing, harvesting, wine making, bottling, tasting, selling and meeting the best people in the world, we’re still having fun.
We’ll be sharing history lessons throughout the year and will have some very special events scheduled for October.
