Wishing You All A Bountiful New Year From Your Friends at Burrell School
We ring in 2017 to the sounds of rain on the roof, and are thankful that the vines are getting a good soaking. Lack of water has been such a concern: it definitely impacted our yields over the last few years, so hopefully, we are turning a corner and will replenish our aquifers this rainy season. Here’s to the rain!
We won’t be pruning while the vineyard is so muddy, but we hope for cool temperatures to promote the dormancy the vines need to rest during the winter season. And then, it will be pruning in advance of the next cycle. Never a dull moment!
It’s hard to believe we begin this New Year without our beloved Anne, the Queen of Chardonnay: she’s been the heart and soul of this place from the very beginning!
We continue to feel her presence and would not miss the chance to observe each brilliant sunset with her in the gorgeous gazebo garden she created to honor the memories of the past and those who have passed on. She now rests among the roses near the Merlot vines.
We honor Anne this month by offering her favorite Burrell School beverage, the 2014 “Teacher’s Pet” Chardonnay, for $29, at 20% off. This is the perfect way to end the day and count your blessings as you contemplate the evening meal.
Seeing Red, In Your Glass
With all the Playoff games coming up this month, not to mention the off-field shenanigans in the front office of the 49ers, you might want to stock up on some big, exciting reds to accompany the action. We’ll cheer for the Raiders with one of these beauties, currently at 20% off:
2013 Pinot Noir, $31 – new release
2012 Cabernet Franc, $31 – new release
2012 Merlot, $29 – ageing to perfection!
2012 Syrah, $24 – sassy and ready to rumble
Don’t forget, the Super Bowl is February 5th.
