Harvest? Moon, Yes; Grapes, No
The sunny wiles of September seem to be holding the cool days of autumn at bay, at least for now. You know we’re nearing the autumnal equinox when the harvest moon arrives, as it will this Friday, September 13, rising like a red-orange disco ball in the apricot evening sky.
Winemaker Dave says the Estate Pinot Noir is still a couple of weeks away from ripeness, depending on the impact of this latest heat wave. “Chardonnay is still looking like mid-October, and late October seems about right for the rest of the reds.” The Estate Chardonnay is currently sitting at 17 brix, while the Pichon Chard is at 20.

9/12 – Fall Festival of Food & Wine at Winchester Mystery House – 5:30-8pm. Must sign up for tickets in advance.
9/14-15 – Capitola Art & Wine Festival – come visit the Burrell School team at the most fun booth at the annual Art & Wine festival!
9/27 – Chaminade Farm to Table Dinner – 6-9pm, featuring the wines of Burrell School, Loma Prieta and Wrights Station. Don’t miss this annual affair, featuring wonderful farm to table cuisine overlooking the Monterey Bay!
9/28 – Sunset Yoga & Wine Tasting – 6pm-8pm, at the schoolhouse.
10/5 – Grazing on the Green -12pm-4pm, Aptos. Annual Santa Cruz cancer benefit. Come taste amazing food, wine, spirits and more for a great cause. Cancer continues to touch all our lives. Let’s help send it packing!
