Description
Vineyard Information: Named for Anne and Dave who were high school sweethearts, this wine combines the peppery, bold zestiness of Merlot (Dave) with the smooth, silky elegance of Cabernet Franc (Anne). The wines were separately vinified and then blended in a 50-50 fashion before bottling. Combining the two unique characters results in something is far more fruit-driven than either one of them by themselves.
Tasting Characteristics: The nose is filled with cherries, raspberries, blackberries, dark earth and spice, with hints of smokey oak. Because they were both aged in French oak, those sweet tobacco and anise notes are amplified, making this an intensely fruity, spicy wine, with a good bit of tannin and a very supple acidity. This wine would be wonderful with pork tenderloin in a cherry-chipotle chile sauce, or spicy jumbo shrimp with red pepper, garlic and tomatoes.
