 Hello Wine Enthusiasts ~  Last Friday we awoke to 7 inches of snow on the ground at Burrell School Vineyards! With the vines being dormant through the winter, this was Mother Nature’s way of reminding them to keep resting. The snow also cleans the air and prevents any insects or fungi that might still be hanging out on the wood from doing any more damage. This is perfect for making sure they are healthy and cleansed for the Spring’s bud break. Should be a great 2023 wine season!

• 2020 “Teacher’s Pet” Chardonnay– This dry, medium bodied wine has moderate acidity. Its flavors range from apple and lemon to pineapple, with notes of vanilla.
• 2020 “Principal’s Choice” Pinot Noir– One look at this wine and you know it’s a true beauty: very classy, like burgundy velvet, glistening and gorgeous in the glass.
• 2020 Old School Cabernet Sauvignon– Rich dark berries on the palate with a balanced tannic finish.

2014 “Spring Break” Syrah– bold and full-bodied with aromatic notes of smoke, black fruit and pepper spice. Stylistically it is round and fruity with a balanced tannic finish.

2013 “PTA”: Pinot Noir Barrel Reserve has scents of raspberries and blackberries with spice notes and a long finish. 24 months in 100% new French oak.

 Elevated Wines of the Santa Cruz Mountains 5-8:30pm, March 31st at Regale Winery – Enjoy a 1.5 hour tasting reception showcasing the wines of Regale Winery, Muns Vineyard, Burrell School, Wrights Station Winery, Gali Vineyards and Roberts Ranch Vineyards. Taste and mingle as you bid on premium wines, exciting tour and tasting experiences and more in the silent auction. The reception will be followed by a 4-course wine dinner paired with Brutta’s contemporary Italian cuisine. Tickets are $175 plus tax.

 The Library Reserve Club provides access to Dave’s library wines from his own cellar!  Members receive 4 different bottles of wine, two times per year, at a fixed price of $125 per package in March & September. Click here to join.

We have just released the March History Lesson.  This semester is all about the noble varietal Cabernet Franc!  We call it “Extra Credit” and are happy to share a special vertical of 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017!
LRC Members are invited to a special afternoon tasting on March 5th from 3-5pm in the schoolhouse.  Please RSVP with a Yes or Maybe by March 3rd so we can plan accordingly.   You are welcome to bring up to three guests.   Bring a friend or family member and if they sign up, we’ll reward you with a complimentary bottle!
